Simple sweater vest - knitting pattern
Watch the free video tutorial here: https://youtu.be/tk0FDUuRskM
The simple sweater vest is a modern, basic staple for your wardrobe - all year round! Layer up with a shirt underneath when it’s cooler or go bare armed on warmer days. Pair it with smart trousers, jeans, joggers, shorts or even over a dress. Everyone needs a simple knit vest in their wardrobe. I reach for mine so often I made it in 3 colours!
This knitting pattern is suitable for advanced beginners. You need to know skills such as knit, knit 2 together, ssk, purl, purl 2 together, picking up stitches and simple seaming.
This knit pattern has available sizes from XS - 2XL, suitable for bust sizes 28 - 50”
There are photos included throughout the pattern to help you along the way.
See below for materials required.

You will need:
- DK / size 3 weight yarn from 415 - 795 yards. More details are included in the pattern.
- 4mm circular knitting needles with at least 40cm cable for smaller sizes or 60cm cable for larger sizes, OR size needed to obtain gauge.
- optional 4mm DPN’s for the neckline and arm cuffs. I personally used circular needles for the whole project and then just did the magic loop technique for the arms and neck.
